This piece is inspired by the Jackson Pollock Style painting, Beauty of Bridge 10. I chose this piece because I really enjoyed the color scheme and how the more classic Jackson Pollock style is overlaid on a more structured striped background. Both the background and the splatter paint mid-section allowed me the opportunities to work with multiple color palettes and add in many instances of controlled randomness.

I matched my color palettes with the colors I saw in the Beauty of Bridge 10 piece. I used the Snap! color chart and association blocks to choose similar colors as the background of the oringinal painting and I listed these in the reporter block "First Set of Colors". I did the same for the middle splatter paint colors and listed them in the "Second Set of Colors" reporter block.

Creating the Background:

To create the background, I created each half separately so I could add more variability. I chose the first color palette I wanted and randomly chose a color and y-coordinate. From there I drew a straight line across half of the stage. I repeated this process until half of the stage was completely covered. I repeated this on the same side but with the colors black and white overtop. I randomly varied the transparency to better blend the black and white bars and create a more diverse set of white, gray, and black. I then repeated this on the right side.

I covered the background with an almost fully transparent white cover in the "Fade Background" block to allow the splatter paint to pop more in contrast to the colorful background.

Creating the Splatter Paint:

In order to achieve a more randomized look and replicate the splatter paint effect, I first randomly placed dots around the middle portion of the stage with the second palette of colors. To create the lines of the splatter paint, I used the same set of colors and I, again, started on one half of the stage. I started from the top middle of the stage and drew a line out to a random x-coordinate to the right middle-half. I then chose a random factor of 180 as the degree to turn the line 180 degrees and I contined to draw the line to random x-coordinate extending to the the other half of the stage to create some overlap. I continued until the sprite hit the bottom of the stage and then repeated the process on the left. I then repeated the whole process again with various transparencies of black and white.
